Have you always wanted to be on the radio? Do you love music? Are you passionate about a particular topic?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, why not consider hosting your own radio show on WGCC?
WGCC is always looking for new volunteer DJs and show hosts. No prior radio experience is necessary. We'll train you and give you the skills and tools you need to produce a top notch radio show.
WGCC/Geneva Community Radio is open to everyone regardless of race, gender identity, sexual orientation or physical disability. All program proposals will be considered with an open mind.
To have a show on WGCC, you must be at least 18 years of age. Persons under 18 wishing to have their own show may do so with the approval of a parent or legal guardian.
Because this is a community radio station based in New York's Finger Lakes region, locally produced programs will have priority. While we are pleased to offer time to syndicated radio shows and hosts from outside our region, it is possible that non-local/syndicated programs will need to be dropped from the schedule to accommodate new locally produced programming. We encourage new shows to be either 30 or 60 minutes in length. Exceptions may be made at the discretion of WGCC management.
As a programmer, you are responsible for the content of your show. It is up to you to ensure that all of your content is in compliance with FCC rules and regulations. We are always here to help if you have questions or need assistance. Don't hesitate to ask!
WGCC/Geneva Community Radio management reserves the right to cancel any program it deems inappropriate, or to be in violation of FCC rules and/or station policies. Any programmer whose show is to be cancelled shall be given notification in writing of the intent to terminate their program.
For now, all shows airing on WGCC must be recorded in advance of their air dates. It is hoped that we will eventually have the ability to allow for live shows on the station. Recorded programs must be delivered to WGCC at least 24 hours in advance of their air dates. We understand that "life happens" sometimes. If you're unable to deliver a new show in time for broadcast, just let us know and we'll make accommodations.
WGCC/Geneva Community Radio has a zero tolerance policy toward hate speech. This includes, but is not limited to, personal attacks/slander, along with racist, sexist, homophobic or xenophobic remarks. Any program containing the above material will be terminated immediately, and the program producer will be permanently banned from the station. As stated above, this radio station is open to EVERYONE. There are many different voices heard on WGCC, each with their own unique perspective. You may not care for some of these perspectives, but, this radio station does not exist just to serve you. If you do not believe that diversity has a place on the public airwaves, then please don't waste your time or ours. Thank you!
If you have questions regarding the above policies, or would like to submit your program proposal for consideration, please send e-mail to genevaradio@gmail.com.
Thank you for your interest in WGCC/Geneva Community Radio.
