GCR announces changes to its international news lineup.At Geneva Community Radio, we remain committed to bringing you news stories that matter. In an American media landscape dominated by meaningless stories that pass as serious news, GCR strives to bring you in depth reports from some of the world's top public broadcasters. Effective Monday, December 16th, GCR will make changes to its international news lineup. We regret to inform our listeners that we no longer have access to on demand audio from IBA, or Kol Israel. This is because the World Radio Network (WRN) has suspended its audio on demand service. GCR relied on this service to bring us the IBA feed each weekday morning, and there does not appear to be a suitable replacement for this feed on the IBA website. GCR will continue to air "live" WRN programming from 2:00 to 6:00 A.M. Monday to Friday. In Kol Israel's former time slot, we will now be running a 15 minute version of Deutsche Welle's news magazine, Journal. GCR is also very pleased to announce the addition of a new broadcaster to our international news lineup. Effective Monday, GCR will begin airing select programming from the Voice of America (VOA), the flagship US international broadcasting service. This will give GCR listeners yet another perspecitve on the events shaping our world. We will air two daily news magazines from VOA. Daybreak Africa, weekday mornings at 6:35, and International Edition, weeknights at 7:05, as part of a new nightly news hour. The second half of that hour will be occupied by Deutsche Welle's Africa Link, now at a more appropriate time, as the show is intended from afternoon/evening clearance.
